Aruba has two higher education institutions that are subsidised by the government:
School boards
- IPA: Service Unit Public Schools (Dienst Publieke Scholen (DPS)
- UA: Board of Trustees (College van Curatoren)
Legislation
- IPA is regulated by the National Ordinance on Secondary Education > Landsverordening voortgezet onderwijs AB 1989 No. GT 103
- UA is regulated by the National Ordinance on the University of Aruba > Landsverordening Universiteit van Aruba AB 1988, No. 100, recently amended by AB 2007 No. 111

Private institutions
In addition to the IPA and the UA, Aruba also has a number of private institutions such as the All Saints University of Medicine, Xavier University School of Medicine, Compulearn, Doc Opleidingen and Caribbean University, none of which have any statutory basis (National Ordinance) in Aruba.
